Honorary Patron

The Honorary Patron plays a vital role in driving the overall success of OneWalk to Conquer Cancer TM by volunteering their time and expertise to bring exposure and visibility to the importance of the event and the work being done at the Jewish General Hospital’s Segal Cancer Centre.

Marina Orsini made her debut in the famous French series Lance et compte. She also participates in many cinema, television and theatre productions, among others, Les Filles de Caleb, Dr. Lucille, Les Muses orphelines and Noémie le secret. Recipient of several awards: Artis and Gemini best actress, Metrostar female personality of the year, Nymphe d'Or best actress comedy at the Festival of Monte - Carlo, Marina is a renowned actress, much appreciated by her peers and adored by the public. In 2012, Marina was inducted to the Order of Canada. Over the last decade, she devoted herself more to radio and TV hosting. In addition to her radio show 5@7 on Rouge FM, she is at the helm of her own morning show on Radio-Canada. Soon she will co-host a documentary series entitled 'Deuxième chance' with Patrick Lagacé.

In June 2015, Sylvie Demers was named Head of Branch Banking in Quebec. She is responsible for developing and delivering a business strategy, ensuring the growth of Branch Banking and providing value-added services to our customers. She has led the Operations team for TD Bank Group since November 2015.

Previously, Sylvie was Vice President, Strategic Initiatives and was based in Toronto. She was also President, Affinity Market Group, TD Insurance.

Sylvie joined TD in 1985 and has held various positions, including in Commercial Banking Services, Corporate Banking and Retail Banking. She has also been Regional Vice President and Market Leader, Eastern Canada, Private Client Services for TD Waterhouse. She has gained expertise in various roles such as financing of private companies and corporate financing of public companies. Sylvie also completed mandates in fund management, cash management and derivative products, in addition to her role as District Vice President of the Montreal Centre-South network of branches.

Her sharp skills in finance combined with her people skills have enabled her to perform on an analytical level as well as on levels relating to business development and team mobilization. Sylvie has always made her mark as a leader; her strength lies in her ability to evaluate the talent of staff members and to create strong organizational structures. She knows how to maximize her teams' talents in order to achieve excellent results.

Sylvie is known for her balanced approach. She recognizes the importance of giving back and is very involved with non-profit organizations. Over the past few years, she has served as honorary chairperson of fundraising campaigns for various organizations such as the Quebec Breakfast Club, Sainte-Justine Hospital and Action Nouvelle Vie. She sat on the 2012-2013 fundraising board for the CHUM Hospital. She is also a member of the board of the Montreal Chamber Music Festival.

Sylvie graduated from HEC Montréal and holds a specialisation in Finance.

Mrs Louise Roby, CPA auditor, CA, C.Adm., member of the executive committee of the firm, partner and leader of the Public Interest Enterprise Services, Mrs Roby has over 25 years of experience in audit and review engagements of financial statements, insurance, NPOs and regulated entities and special mandates with several organisations under government regulation and mandates on the effectiveness of accounting and management controls with an eye to resource optimisation. She acts as a forensic accounting expert witness providing accounting and auditing expertise for a variety of civil cases in court. She is a member of several boards of directors and audit committees; she presides over the board of the Chambre de commerce de l'est de Montréal, and is a member of the board of directors and secretary-treasurer of Ballets Jazz de Montréal, and has been member of the audit committee of the Société des transports de Montréal since January 2016. Mrs Roby was named "Femme Incontournable de la Finance" by Premiéres Affaires magazine.

Honorary Co-Chairs

Our Honorary Co-chairs are community leaders who give of their time to serve as ambassadors of OneWalk to Conquer CancerTM benefitting the Jewish General Hospital's Segal Cancer Centre.

Alvin Segal, a business man and philanthropist began modestly working in his stepfather’s business at 18 years of age. Today, due to his efforts and acumen, Alvin Segal is the Chairman & CEO of Peerless Clothing Inc., the largest supplier of men’s fine tailored clothing in North America.

When Mr. Segal received the Order of Canada in 2010, he said, “I’ve been lucky in business. I want to share my success.” He has made good on that promise; donating millions of dollars to education, medicine and culture.

He has been a generous benefactor to the Jewish General Hospital and played a key role in establishing the Segal Cancer Centre for treatment and research in 2006 with his gift of $20 million.

Alvin Segal married Emmelle in 2011. Since coming to Montreal from the US, she has joined her husband in his philanthropy by hosting countless events in their homes in Montreal and Florida for various causes and charities that touch their hearts.

They are both proud and honoured to be the Honourary Co-Chairs of the inaugural edition of the OneWalk to Conquer Cancer.
